RTR EntomoCentre, Thematic Research Network (RTR) Entomocentre

EntomoCentre aims to promote studies in entomology (the branch of biology that focuses on the study of insects, and more generally arthropods) in relation to global change and innovative technologies.

The RTR is funded by the Centre-Val de Loire Region and brings together some twenty members, including scientific laboratories, universities, para-public organizations, companies and associations.

To bring together people and institutes in the Centre-Val de Loire region working on insects, the network has focused on 4 major areas:

  • Research: promote interaction between academic and non-academic partners to carry out collaborative research projects on an international scale.
  • Training: coordinate entomology training programs at regional level and roll them out nationally and internationally.
  • Innovation: increase national and international visibility in cross-functional areas of industrial innovation and employability in the CVL region.
  • Decision-making support: support actions and make proposals to regional, national and international bodies

Know-how

  • Support for national and international research projects
  • Creation of entomology training courses
  • Support for the development of new sectors and biotechnologies
  • Facilitating exchanges between academic, public and political spheres

Implications and links with Sycomore

RTR EntomoCentre works with Sycomore to organize seminars covering both forests and insects, and to coordinate training and scientific culture initiatives.
