Forestry apprentices!

Context

As part of the Sycomore project, in collaboration with Centre Sciences, we have developed eight educational sheets for secondary school pupils. These sheets propose activities to be carried out in the classroom and in the forest, aimed at gaining a better understanding of the forest, its ecosystem and the services it provides to society. To ensure that they are relevant and in line with teaching programmes, Centre Sciences worked closely with a secondary school science teacher. Her expertise was essential in defining the methods and feasibility of the proposed experiments.

Like a true professional, you will be able to study trees, the forest and their health. You’ll be able to calculate, measure, identify, collect, transmit and interpret data, enabling you to take stock of and monitor the health of your forest plot. Like a true scientist, you will also be able to set up an experimental protocol to monitor the development of seedlings and observe their evolution as a function of climatic variables.

Take a look at our experiment sheets, with protocols varying in length and complexity. Each sheet includes :

  • Title of experience
  • Educational objectives
  • Duration of the experiment
  • Practical recommendations (number of students, location: indoors or outdoors, etc.)
  • Equipment required
  • Detailed experimental protocol for activities in the forest and in the classroom
  • Additional resources to expand your knowledge

Explore our factsheets and take your pupils on some exciting scientific adventures!

Discover our educational kit, available free of charge in digital and physical form in French. Aimed at players in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France, this resource introduces secondary school pupils to the fascinating world of the forest.
